Dreamy vintage French chemise de nuit underdress, made from fine cotton lawn. Scalloped net lace hem with embroidered botanical details, and insertion french lace. This type of piece often referred to as a princess petticoat was worn as an undergarment back in the early 1900’s to smooth out corset lines and protect their outer gown. The lightweight fabric and lace added breathability.
Similar to the lingerie dress of the Edwardian, or Belle Epoque era, although this version being sleeveless, shows off the shoulders. While it was worn underneath as a functional garment, it was made with lots of care, attention to detail and incredible beauty. Handmade.
